Habit or addiction?

Some smokers believe they are addicted to nicotine. But what do leading medical specialists say?

Many of my clients tell me they smoked twenty a day during the week, but only ten a day at weekends or vice versa, if they had been truly addicted their bodies would be unable to cope with this variation, indeed they would probably have to continually increase the number of cigarettes that they had each day!

More to the point when my clients leave my practice after only 90 minutes they leave as non-smokers, with no desire or expectation to smoke and in the majority of cases never smoke again.

Does it work?

A study carried out by Iowa University based on 72,000 people in Europe and USA who had tried different methods to stop smoking found that hypnosis was five times more successful than will power and three times more successful than nicotine replacement.
